Google Calendar Integration

Follow

Using Pillar's Google Calendar integration, Pillar can automatically join interviews with registered candidates.

Role

Owner

Prerequisites

  • You must have Owner-level permissions in Pillar
  • You must have Super Admin privileges in your organization's G-Suite instance, or be in contact with someone who does

How to Install

  1. Navigate to the Google Workspace Admin Console.
  2. Navigate to the Security section via the menu.
  3. Select API Controls or Manage API Access.
  4. Click Manage Domain Wide Delegation under Domain Wide Delegation.
  5. Enter the client ID provided on the Google Calendar settings page in Pillar.
  6. Add the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.readonly scope.
  7. Click Authorize.
  8. Return to the Google Calendar settings page in Pillar and click Activate.

If everything is set up correctly, the integration should now be active!

Usage

Once activated, Pillar will request to be notified when events are created or changed on Pillar users' Google Calendars. If we detect that it is an interview with an active candidate, Pillar will note the start time and participants and automatically join when the meeting starts. If the meeting is not an interview, Pillar will ignore it and record no information. The Pillar Google Calendar integration will only watch the calendars of active Pillar users and can be deactivated at any time.

For more information, view Google's Domain Wide Delegation documentation here.

How to Uninstall

  1. Navigate to the Google Calendar Settings page in Pillar.
  2. Click Deactivate.  NOTE: This will deactivate the integration, but you may also wish to revoke Pillar's access to your team's calendars.
  3. Navigate to the API Controls page in the Google Workspace Admin Console.
  4. Click Manage domain-wide delegation under Domain Wide Delegation.
  5. Find the entry for the Pillar integration and select Remove.
